Throw An Oscars Theme Party With Pizzazz

Being able to be the host at your own Oscars Party and treat your friends as if their the big-time movie stars can be one of the most fun parties of the year. With a little pizzazz, easy décor items, some delicious munchies and favorite cocktails, you’ll be the Star to host the Academy Awards and throw the best Oscars party your friends will rave about.

Oscar Party Decoration Ideas
When your guests arrive pull out the red carpet, literally. Just put down your best red carpet (or buy an inexpensive one) and put it in front of your door to welcome your Star friends. Alternatively, for more Oscars party fun place a red runner inside the door and have the early arrivals to play the paparazzi and take pictures as your friends come through the door.

If you can make a special visit to your local movie rental store, ask if there are any movie props they want to give away and you can most likely grab some great props for your decor.

Black and white decorations, like streamers, cups, plates, etc are a great idea or going shiny like silver or Academy gold is always perfect, too.

Comfort is key so make sure you have plenty of floor pillows, blankets, etc since the ceremony can be up to three hours long.

Make sure you have plenty of Oscar ballots for your guests and make sure they fill them out prior to the show as to not have a cheater in the mix.

This is another great Oscar party idea that I saw today on a website and that is to play Oscars Bingo. Before the party, create bingo cards with the most common Oscar happenings: a winner crying, thanking God or forgetting to thank their spouse or co-star; a presenter mangling a nominee's name; the orchestra cutting off a winner's speech; a host's joke falling flat. Give a bingo card to each guest when they arrive so they can mark it off during the show, and award prizes like a bottle of wine, etc for each bingo.

Foods that don’t require refrigeration and can be kept at room temp like olives, chips and dip, cheese and crackers are the most welcomed and easy foods to munch on during the show so make sure messy foods are kept to a minimum.

As for refreshments, just come up with your favorite cocktails to make along with your specialty appetizer (everyone has one) and your feature presentation will be complete and with plenty of fanfare to boot that will make you feel like you won an Oscar yourself.
